CHINA TIME 2014 focuses on cultural diversity, the highlight being the "Secret-Signs" exhibition at the Falkenberg Collection from 08/11/2014 to 08/02/2015. The exhibition is dedicated to calligraphy, which also represents the core topic of this year's programme. 38 renowned Chinese artists will display their works, depicting calligraphy as a cultural root and in juxtaposition to today's globalised China. "Secret-Signs" is one of Europe's largest exhibitions on contemporary Chinese art and is hosted in cooperation with the Sigg-Collection and M+, Hong Kong's prestigious museum of visual culture. CHINA TIME 2014 also features numerous other events on art and culture, politics, law and business, education and health. http://www.chinatime.hamburg.de.

Hamburg's First-Mayor
Olaf Scholz states: "Hamburg has good, long-standing relations with
China, and this is one of the reasons why the city is the ideal place for dialogue on the perspectives of Sino-European relations. For the fifth time now,
CHINA TIME Hamburg provides insights into the
China-related expertise our city has developed over the years. I am sure that the event will once again draw large numbers of visitors, thereby demonstrating the public's interest in
China. CHINA TIME provides an ideal platform for this."
Hamburg is China's gateway to Europe - also in economic terms. More than 50% of German foreign trade with the People's-Republic of China is handled through the port of Hamburg, around 500 Chinese companies have offices in Hamburg, approx. 900 Hamburg businesses are engaged in trade with China, managing their China-related European imports and exports from Hamburg. Moreover, Hamburg and Shanghai have been twinned since 1986 and maintain close political, economic, cultural and social ties.
