“I can quit whenever I want” (Smetto Quando Voglio) in the new home of Italian cinema

Sunday November 30, 6.30pm Genesis Cinema. Every month a contemporary Italian film with English subtitles
London, (informazione.it - comunicati stampa - arte e cultura) “I can quit whenever I want” (Smetto Quando Voglio) by Sydney Sibilia returns to a London cinema for the first time after the London Film Festival 2014. The screening will take place on Sunday 30 November at 6.30pm at Genesis Cinema (93-95 Mile End Rd, London E1 4UJ. Best Tube Stepney Green) in Italian with English subtitles (tickets: goo.gl/DTCLSt).
The comedy has been reported as “wild and enormously entertaining” by ScreenDaily and “One of the most exportable Italian comedies in recent memory” by The Hollywood Reporter. Sibilia’s debut feature tells the story of seven Italian former University Researchers who start a pusher career in Rome after losing their jobs. Nowadays this is a topical subject in London due to the new Italian diaspora: thousand upon thousand young Italians have been arriving in the Capital in recent years and keep on coming.

The programme will continue on 14 December with the UK Premiere of "Song’e Napule" by the Manetti Bros.

CinemaItaliaUK is a new company which promotes new Italian films in the UK. CinemaitaliaUK artistic director Clara Caleo Green says: “Our aim is to source new gems and create a regular appointment for lovers of Italian films both in London and in the UK. For the first time, once a month, Londoners will watch new films - with English subtitles - recently released in Italy and not yet in DVD on the English market”. Up to now Italian films were screened mainly during festivals, special occasions and Institutional venues (see the excellent programme at the Italian Cultural Institute directed by Caterina Cardona, or the French cinema Lumiere). CinemaItaliaUK offers a great opportunity to discover compelling stories, young artists and to understand better what’s going on in Italy through the world of cinema – current events, comedies, docu-fictions and documentaries – although it is very mindfull of the masterpieces by De Sica, Antonioni, Pasolini, Visconti, Fellini and of all more recent film makers.
