It is expected that approximately 6,000 athletes will converge in Cassino from 25 universities across Italy , divided into 25 different specialties. The competitions will take place in various sport centers located in 8 cities in the province of Frosinone and Latina.
Among the main disciplines are athletics, football, soccer, karate, judo, basketball, boxe, fencing, taekwondo, archery, volleyball men and women, shooting, beach volleyball men and women. The official disciplines will be joined by some promotional activities such as baseball, hockey, swimming, horseback riding, female rugby, swimming, zumba.
The National University Championship was born in 1946, the year of the establishment of the CUS (Italian University Sports Center), in the midst of post-war reconstruction. The first actual edition of the National University Championship took place next year, 1947, between Bologna and Merano. In the following decades the Championship was held in almost every Italian university city, until the last edition of 2012, which took place in Messina .
The event has many relevant sponsors. In addition to institutions (University of Cassino and Southern Lazio , CONI, CUSI, CUS Cassino, Presidence of the Regional Council of Lazio ), notable are the sponsorships of Enel, SKF Italy, La Ferriera and Pubblicarrello, provider of the event's official merchandising and custom apparel (in Italian "abbigliamento personalizzato").
