The G-Shock brand is famed for its durability and strength; it was the brain child of engineer Kikuo Ibe , who wanted to 'create a watch that didn't break, even when dropped'. It was 1981, and Kikuo and his team of just three members began to design their product indestructible. In doing so they decided to adhere to a triple 10 concept, which was pretty simple really: a 10-year battery life, a 10-metre dropping shock resistance and a 10-bar water resistance, the perfect recipe for project indestructible.
It was a further two years until the first G-Shock was ready to launch in 1983. The DW5000 was launched and thus the G-Shock brand was born. To this day the G-Shock recipe remains as strong as ever and continues to wow watch fanatics the world over with their inventive, forward thinking.
