LONDON, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sufi students around the world are planning protests at Roberto Cavalli stores over his disrespectful use of their sacred emblem with its 1400 years of heritage, as his Just Cavalli logo.

Sufi students angered by Cavalli's misuse of a sacred symbol, launched an impressive #TakeOffJustLogo campaign using social media to express their discontent. They have caught the attention of various bloggers and newspapers, and have been approached by numerous journalists.

On May 29th, 2014, many EU based students will participate in a peaceful demonstration in London, UK outside the Victoria and Albert Museum from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Other demonstrations will be in Los Angeles on the 31st May outside Roberto Cavalli store on 362 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hill, California from 11:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M and New York on the 31st May on 63rd Street and Madison Avenue at 12.00 P.M. The first successful protest took place in Dallas, TX on May 23rd. Demonstrations in Paris, Milan and Dusseldorf are to follow.

According to Sufi Rights, these campaigning students are not calling for censorship nor are they trying to curb freedom of speech. Rather they are attempting to protect the sanctity of their faith from being tarnished. Above all else, the #TakeOffJustLogo campaign is about claiming what is rightfully theirs. Roberto Cavalli is also guilty of offending faith groups in the past. In 2004 he managed to outrage thousands of Hindus by using images of their holy deities on various merchandise including underwear, according to Vogue.

About Sufi Rights:
Sufi Rights, a non-profit organization safeguarding the rights of Sufis, says that the students want Roberto Cavalli to remove all Just Cavalli products that uses the religious emblem, which is a registered trademark. Roberto Cavalli has simply rotated the emblem and declared it to be a 'snake bite,' a connotational indication of the original sin and the deadly sin. The Just Cavalli campaign video was deemed as being so inappropriate by the Advertising Standards Authority that it was removed in the UK.
