The fresh look and feel, responsive design and improved usability of the new site - accessible from both desktop and mobile devices and available in English and Greek -provide dynamic learning and cultural resources to site visitors be they students, exams candidates, parents of school-age children, English language teachers, art enthusiasts or science buffs.

What does the site have on offer?

Learning English

Visit the 'Learn English' section of the new website to browse through the English language courses available at the British Council's Athens Teaching Centre. The centre runs classes for children, teenagers and adults at every level from beginner's English right through to proficiency, including specialised preparation courses for the Cambridge English exams and the IELTS test, designed to develop candidates' language skills and train them in essential exam techniques. The British Council also understands that it's not always easy to find time to attend a class, so it has made a wide range of English language learning resources available online, completely free of charge.

Resources for English language teachers

The 'Teach English' section of the new website provides information and resources for both experienced English language teachers and those who are new to the profession. These include a range of face-to-face and online teacher training courses, as well as links to regional and professional networks to help teachers keep up to date with the latest developments in English language teaching.

Exams

Visit the 'Take an exam' pages for information about the full range of exams offered by the British Council in Greece, which include IELTS (International Language Testing System), the world's leading English language proficiency test, Cambridge English exams at various levels, plus a wide range of internationally recognised academic and professional exams.

Studying in the UK

Creating educational opportunities is one of the British Council's core aims. The 'Study in the UK' section of the new site provides information about English language, foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK, UK courses available in Greece, as well as funding and scholarship opportunities.

The site also includes full details of a number of specialised educational and professional services the British Council offers in Greece, including its official and fully recognised document translation and verification service, its student support services and its consultancy services for medical and dentistry professionals looking to pursue their medical specialty or a salaried post in the UK.

Arts

The British Council Greece promotes the newest and best of what's on offer on the UK arts scene, and runs projects designed to act as a catalyst for collaboration and the exchange of ideas. It works across all art forms and organises a wide variety of activities ranging from large-scale festivals, exhibitions and conferences to smaller-scale seminars, workshops and residencies, as well as exchange and networking events. Education and society

The British Council's work in education focuses on internationalising education, sharing the UK's expertise and innovation around the world, and bringing education partners together to work on collaborative projects. Find out more by visiting the 'Education' and 'Society' pages of the new site.

Tony Buckby, Director British Council Greece, said, "I've seen a good website turned into a great one. The refreshed look, the navigation, the way it both saves time and holds the attention are a huge asset for our services and our cultural relations activities."

About the British Council:

Founded in 1934, the British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It is a global organisation with more than 190 offices in over 100 countries. It touches the lives of around 500 million people every year - almost a tenth of the world's population.

With offices in Athens and Thessaloniki, the British Council has been working in Greece since 1939. It offers a wide range of services and activities and focuses on three key areas: English, education and society, and the arts. It works with a large number of Greek organisations - ministries, universities, academic and research institutions, schools, non-governmental and cultural organisations in both the public and private sectors.
