With the average number of simultaneous aerial performers usually between 2 and 5, tonight's performance of over 25 dancers performing over five minutes of synchronized aerial silks is a significant first for the art form.

The performance took place tonight at Old Billingsgate in London to celebrate the 25 anniversary of international consultancy and construction company, Mace. The company, famous for building The Shard and delivering the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, brought together a hand-picked team of top professional aerial performers from all over the world to form the "Mace Spirit of Adventure" aerial performance team.

"We are delighted to announce the achievement of a Guinness World Records title for the Mace 'Spirit of Adventure' aerial performance team. Mace is a company that thrives on adventure, challenge and opportunity. We have a track record of doing things bolder and better when delivering our projects such as The Shard in London and tonight we brought this to life at our 25 anniversary event."

"We are thrilled to achieve a Guinness World Records title tonight and conceive and produce yet another world-first for Mace, a company at the helm of some of the world's most iconic structures. Aerial Dance was an obvious choice for us to highlight the story they have to share on their 25 anniversary, while simultaneously elevating the breathtaking and dramatic artform of Aerial Silks by achieving A Guinness World Records title on the day."

Aerial dance has seen a huge surge in popularity recently across the world both as a fitness method and as a performing art in its own right, with celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow enjoying its many benefits.
