Uzma Irfan - Conceptualizer and Organizer,'Art Bengaluru' said, "The Indian art market currently has both good quality and discerning buyers. Globally, art is also increasingly becoming an alternate investment option. In this year's edition of 'Art Bengaluru', we have attempted to bring together distinguished artists from across the globe, thus giving people an opportunity to experience, under one roof, the multitude of art forms available. This festival is not just for the art aficionados and collectors. We hope to promote the various art forms and create a greater understanding of art in the city with this initiative. We also encourage schools to bring in their students to make the most of this festival."
The theme for this year's festival is 'Paradigm Shift'. In keeping with this theme, 'YES BANK Art Bengaluru 2015' hopes to promote a discovery of the arts from a change-inducing standpoint. Traditionally, art was symbolized by paintings, classical sculptures and so on. However, over the years, the very concept of 'Art' has undergone a sea change. With technological advancements, today we have the opportunity to embrace a whole new set of art forms - interactive and immersive installations. The rich interiors of The Collection, UB City will also be transformed to complement this year's theme. The Bentley Mulsanne will be on display throughout the festival, further increasing the luxury quotient of the venue.
This year, the art is being curated by Suresh Jayaram,an artist, art historian, arts administrator and curator of national repute. There will also be curated walks by Mr. Jayaram, as well as trained art guides, to give visitors an in-depth and holistic understanding of the festival and the artworks on display.
To keep the energy of the festival riding high, there will also be performances by celebrated musicians including Talvin Singh and Trilok Gurtu. EDM Nights hosted by International EDM artists, Project 46 and Omnia are also included in the line-up of performances.
'YES BANK Art Bengaluru 2015' will open on Friday21 August 2015 with a Grand Inaugural Ceremony that will include a state-of-the-art Light/Projection Mapping showshowcasing the history ofart.
