Il suo No Love Dubplate ha messo sotto i riflettori la cantante di Trinidad Queen Omega. Questa voce unica e potente della scena musicale reggae mondiale internazionale è tornata in tour nel 2024. L’estate scorsa, Queen Omega e Little Lion Sound hanno creato un successo mondiale con il loro dubplate sul leggendario Riddim ‘Next Episode’, che ha accumulato oltre 120 milioni di stream su tutti i social media ed è stato acclamato da Snoop Dogg e Dr Dre!

Dopo 10 anni, il 2023 ha segnato il suo ritorno con un nuovo album, Freedom Legacy, pubblicato il 24 marzo su Baco Records, in cui rivela le sue molteplici influenze musicali attraverso testi autentici. Questo album è costruito come una sorta di raccolta di pensieri che lascia ai suoi fan e ai suoi figli. Un’eredità che riunisce le sue domande più profonde sulla condizione umana e le relazioni tra le persone, in cui canta delle sue lotte per la libertà e l’indipendenza delle donne, con testi militanti che portano speranza alle nuove generazioni. Un viaggio introspettivo e musicale su nuove radici, reggae e ritmi dancehall.

Queen Omega è originaria di San Fernando a Trinidad. Incoraggiata dalla madre, ha iniziato ad apparire in talent show locali dall’età di 9 anni, ha scritto i suoi calypso e si è persino spinta fino a rappare in televisione nazionale. In seguito ha cantato come corista per il produttore Kenny Philips, accompagnando molti artisti soca in studio e sul palco. Cresciuta in una famiglia di musicisti, si è rapidamente appassionata alla musica reggae e dancehall, ma è cresciuta anche ascoltando artisti soul come Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker e Whitney Houston, jazz e musica tradizionale di Trinidad, basi che l’ispireranno per tutta la sua carriera. Ispirata dalla sua fede rastafariana, ha anche sviluppato rapidamente le sue capacità di scrittura ed è stato nei primi anni 2000 che la sua carriera è iniziata sul palco in Giamaica.

Si è esibita lì con la Solomon Band per il Caribbean Music Expo, ha incontrato il produttore Mickey D, che l’anno successivo l’ha portata a Londra per una prima serie di spettacoli dal vivo. Queen Omega è ormai entrata nella storia del roots reggae come icona femminile, con la sua voce unica e messaggi precisi e consapevoli. La sua impressionante discografia è iniziata con l’album di debutto “Queen Omega” (2002). Da allora l’artista non ha mai smesso di produrre album e successi e ha collaborato con molti artisti. Sul palco, Queen Omega segna un pubblico multigenerazionale con le sue performance vocali quasi illimitate che combinano suoni reggae, caraibici, jazz e soul… ma anche con la sua autenticità, la sua energia e la sua innegabile presenza. Per 20 anni, le sue performance live uniche l’hanno portata in tournée in tutto il mondo, dall’Europa all’America. Queen Omega continua a rinnovarsi e ci invita a riscoprirla in modi diversi, pubblicando molti singoli eclettici: “Florilège” ft. Her No Love Dubplate has put the Trinidadian singer Queen Omega under the spotlight. This unique and powerful voice of the international world-reggae music scene is back on the road in 2024. Last summer, Queen Omega and Little Lion Sound created a worldwide hit with their dubplate on the legendary 'Next Episode' Riddim, which has accumulated over 120 million streams across all the social medias and has been acclaimed by Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre!

After 10 years, 2023 marked her return with a new album, Freedom Legacy, released on March 24th on Baco Records, in which she reveals her multiple musical influences through authentic texts. This album is built as a kind of collection of thoughts that she leaves to her fans and her children. A legacy that brings together her deepest questions about Human condition and relationships between people, in which she sings about her fights towards freedom and independence for women, with militant lyrics bringing hope to new generations. An introspective and musical journey on new roots, reggae and dancehall riddims.

Queen Omega is originally from San Fernando in Trinidad. Encouraged by her mother, she began appearing on local talent shows from the age of 9, wrote her own calypsos and even went so far as to rap on national television. She later sang backing vocals for producer Kenny Philips, accompanying many soca artists in the studio and on stage. Raised in a musicians family, she quickly became passionate about reggae and dancehall music, but also grew up listening to soul artists like Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker and Whitney Houston, jazz and traditional music from Trinidad, foundations that will inspire her throughout her career. Inspired by her Rastafarian faith, she also rapidly developed her writing skills and it was in the early 2000s that her career began on stage in Jamaica. She performed there with the Solomon Band for the Caribbean Music Expo, met producer Mickey D, who took her to London the following year for a first series of liveshows.

Queen Omega has now entered roots reggae history as a feminine icon, with her unique voice and precise, conscious messages. Her impressive discography began with the debut album "Queen Omega" (2002). Since then the artist never stopped to produce albums and hits and has collaborated with many artists. On stage, Queen Omega marks a multigenerational public with her almost unlimited vocal performances that combine reggae, Caribbean, jazz and soul sounds ... but also by her authenticity, her energy and her undeniable presence. For 20 years, her unique live performances have taken her to tour the world from Europe to America.
