The nine day Cultural Security Through an Islamic Perspective dialogue intends to utilize the spirituality and self-reflection aspects of the Holy month in order to gather various respected Muslim thinkers, eminent scholars and academics, as well as prominent social media personalities in one place. The conference will address modern day Islamic culture and identity and contemplate the most thorny issues affecting Muslims today; in addition to objectively reviewing misunderstandings and misconceptions about the religion.

Following the successful National Unity and Social Coexistence Conference held in April of this year, the Ministry is determined to gain worldwide recognition and public engagement with its bold move to air this event live on Al Jazeera Mubasher TV, as well as focusing on interactivity by utilizing social media with the use of the hash tag #RamadanDialogue.

Selected speakers will present the nine set sessions, which range from Devotion and Prostration to God to Renewal of Religious Discourse, Extremism and the Paths to Correction, Cultural Security Through an Islamic Perspective and Intercommunity Relations, Coexistence and Cohesion.  Amongst the guest speakers are: the Saudi cleric and well known social media personality, Salman Al Odah, as well as Sheikh Dr. Mohammed AbdelMaqsood, Deputy of the Commission for Rights and Reform, Sheikh Dr Thaqeel Al-Shammary, Deputy President of the Court of Cassation, Dr. Gaith bin Mubarak Al-Kowwary, Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs-Qatar, Dr Tariq Al-Hashimi, Former VP of Iraq, Dr. Jawad Al-Gohary, Professor of International Law, and numerous other preachers and scholars.

The dialogue is one which calls for a more nuanced, moderate, educationally-focused approach dedicated to reform, enlightened learning and open and free discussion. It will explore the containment of risks, the enhancement of moderate Islamic thinking and how to build bridges. It will also focus on a thorough examination of cultural identities including how to negotiate the historical legacy of Islamic heritage in an ever-evolving global world.
