On 10 May Barcelona Bridal Week dropped the curtain on its twenty-fifth edition, a particularly emblematic anniversary during which the show once again became the international centre of attention for buyers, distributors, businesspeople and the media from all over the world.

There is no doubt that this was the most international edition ever, with the USA as guest country and the presence of the first special guest designer, Katharine Polk of Houghton Bride, plus 16,000 visitors, 60% of them foreign from countries such as Italy, France, Germany, the USA, Portugal, Russia and Brazil, and 300 VIP buyers from Europe, the USA and Qatar invited directly by the show's organisers.

The catwalk shows featuring 23 designers were a complete sell out: between 5 and 8 May, the following firms presented their collections: Rosa Clar, Jesús Peiró, Miquel Suay, Sabrina Saree, YolanCris, Isabel Sanchis and Inmaculada García, Natalie Capell and Cristina Tamborero from "Barcelona Couture by #MYLOOKROWENTA", Isabel Zapardiez and Anna Torres, Cabotine by Gema Nicolás, Jordi Dalmau and Matilde Cano, M&M, Cymbeline, Patricia Avendaño and Sonia Peña, Carla Ruiz, Fuentecapala, Justin Alexander, and special guest Katherine Polk of Houghton Bride, who caused a sensation with her bohemian gypsy-inspired 2016 collection. Meanwhile, Pronovias presented its new creations at the MNAC in a show graced by top models including Irina Shayk, Blanca Padilla, Romee Strijd and Cindy Bruna.

The trade show occupied Hall 2 of the Gran Via Exhibition Centre where more than 12,000 bridal gowns and 3,000 party outfits were presented by 250 brands, half of them international, from the USA, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, South Korea, the UK, Turkey, Romania, Greece, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Denmark.

There was no shortage of events to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary, such as a street photography exhibition and a catwalk show of 25 wedding dresses by 25 different designers in the Pedralbes Palace before 300 special guests from the fashion world. With all these ingredients it's hardly surprising that the Catalan event reaffirmed its global predominance thanks also to the success of the companies in the sector, which is one of the most international in the Spanish economy, billing almost 877 million euros in exports (22.4% more than the previous year).
