Barcelona Opens 2015 With a Groundbreaking Show Which Consolidates it as the Capital of Creativity
La Fura dels Baus is internationally renowned for the creation of large non-conventional shows with mechanical structures, music, movement, fire, the inclusion of new technologies, and interaction with the audience. In the New Year celebration in Barcelona , La Fura brought the Being of the Millennium back to life. This is a spectacular iron sculpture with a human shape, more than 15 m high, which represents the spirit of the city.
The New Year came in among live music and percussions, which gave way to the building of a traditional human tower ( ) by one of the city (groups). There were also fireworks in this show that combines tradition and the avant-garde, resulting in a display that thrilled the audience one more year and which has become an international must for New Year's Eve .
The spectacular staging required more than one hundred actors and artists specialising in vertical shows. Together, they climbed up the inside of the metal structure, creating a heartbeat that made the Being of the Millennium come alive just before 2015 came in.
Thousands of people who came to the foot of the well-known Magic Fountain in Montjuic were able to interact with the unique event that positions Barcelona as one of the capitals of creativity and innovation.
