The European Centre for Information Policy and Security (ECIPS) issues a stark warning to the European Union (EU) and the international community regarding the potential spread of terrorism in the EU following the recent Hamas attacks on Israel. In a statement issued by Mr. Ricardo Baretzky, President of ECIPS, the agency highlights the alarming consequences of these acts of terror and their potential impact on European security.
President Ricardo Baretzky of ECIPS emphasized that Hamas has blatantly violated the Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism adopted by the United Nations in resolution 54/109 of 9 December 1999. These acts of terrorism, which have led to the deaths of innocent Israelis, cannot be ignored, and they contravene the international community's efforts to combat the financing of terrorism. Mr. Baretzky stated, "The difference is that Hamas has violated the Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, which is a significant breach of international law."
While the international community has expressed support for Palestinian Hamas, it is crucial to remember that, in the recent attacks, 1300 innocent Israelis lost their lives. Israel has maintained its stance of acting in self-defense and in adherence to international legal principles. The European Union, which has expressed support for the Palestinian cause, needs to acknowledge the gravity of these acts and the violations they entail. Mr. Baretzky stressed, "The fact remains that Israel did not initiate any act of war without legal defense, and European Union officials who are fueling this support for Palestinian Hamas will eventually be held accountable for their actions under the Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism 1999."
In addition to the concerning international developments, ECIPS has observed a sharp increase in Nazi idolism and anti-Semitic movements within the European Union. These movements pose a significant threat to the security and stability of the EU. The rise in extremism and hate crimes is alarming, and the potential for terrorism to spread to different idealistic groups is a cause for deep concern.
ECIPS believes that the potential spread of terrorism within the EU could have severe consequences for the safety and well-being of its citizens. The organization stresses that the rising wave of extremist ideologies and movements must be addressed promptly to prevent further acts of terror within the European Union.
In light of these developments, ECIPS calls upon EU member states to take urgent measures to combat extremist ideologies and anti-Semitic movements within their borders. The organization emphasizes the need for rigorous law enforcement and intelligence efforts to prevent acts of terror and maintain the security of the EU. Additionally, ECIPS urges the EU to reconsider its stance on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to support a just and peaceful resolution that adheres to international law and conventions.
