Porcelain is far more than merely a working material consisting of kaolin, feldspar and quartz. The 12 participants at the 6th international KAHLA Creative workshop run by the Günther Raithel Foundation have proven what extraordinary items can be produced from it. Porcelain crochet nets emerged under the heading DELIGHT IN CHANGE, swan wings became bowls and cups learned how to walk. The results of the four-week international workshop are now going on tour. From 17 September to 25 October 2015 the works are on display in the Bröhan Museum, Berlin and from 15 April to 22 May 2016 there is a follow-on exhibition at Porzellanikon Selb and Hohenberg a. d. Eger. Further exhibitions are also being planned.

During the exhibition of the results at the Kahla porcelain works, politicians and key persons involved in cultural events praised the work of the young workshop participants from England , Finland , France , Iceland , Switzerland , Taiwan , Ukraine and Germany . They had been selected from amongst over 100 international applicants. At the same time, the speakers emphasised the significance of foundation initiatives such as KAHLA Creative, which contribute to the regeneration and development of processes, working materials and sectors and secure the competitiveness of German industrial companies. Wolfgang Tiefensee , Minister of Economics and Science of the Free State of Thuringia, stressed the central role of design as "intermediary between product and purchaser."

The Günther Raithel Foundation was founded in 2010 and is devoted to the promotion of education, culture and research in all matters relating to porcelain. The KAHLA Creative workshop is its most significant project and takes place every few years. This provides up-and-coming artists and designers with four weeks of opportunity to explore new paths in porcelain manufacture and formation and thus to add new stimuli to this cultural technology through innovative approaches. To this end, the entire infrastructure of the modern production facilities at KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH are available to them.
