Intanto, per sicurezza, tutte le persone a contatto con il gatto sono state sottoposte a profilassi. Prima di questo caso era stato rinvenuto solo una volta in un pipistrello del Caucaso nel 2002. Non è passata inosservata, ad Arezzo (Toscana), la morte di un gatto, poi risultato positivo al Lyssavirus, un virus rarissimo riscontrato solo una volta al mondo nei pipistrelli. Un gatto con un virus rarissimo.
