On 15th of March the auctionhouse Sebök, which is by now the oldest auctioneer in the internationally known antique - loving city of Bamberg, will offer the work "Lesender am Pult" of this significant dutch painter. This painting illustrates a reading person at a desk, which can be recognized as Rembrandts father dressed in an oriental costume. Already in 1951 the painting was offered in a auction called "Collection de S.A. La Princesse S.M. et Divers, Lausanne 23 und 27 Oktober 1951" in Lausanne and listed under the number "191".

"We are really looking forward, to offer such an impressive work in our upcoming auction in March. For an auctioneer it is always a highlight, particularly to auction a work with such provenance," commented Johann Sebök.

The current owner is a private art collector near Frankfurt the auctioneers Johann and Stefan Sebök got in contact with due to excellent connections within the art industry.

The attribution of this painting by Rembrandt is supported by an expertise of Abraham Bredius aswell available as copy.

Bredius,the popular dutch art historian and director of the Mauritshuis in Den Haag,had published a notable catalogue on Rembrandts works together with Gerson and Hans Schneider. After thourough research, he reduces the number of identified works from 690 to 630 and decisively contributed to the discussion about the authenticity of Rembrandts works.

Apart from that outstanding Work also 2000 other art objects, paintings and antiques will be offered on the 15th of March.
