The “E300” series has achieved particularly positive results in Italy, the home of glass polishing. But let's go back to the origin how ELka was born, founded in 1960 as a ceramic grinding wheel factory in Türkheim by the ceramic engineer H. Lauhinger and the businessman H. Kiefer, the company operates under the name of Elka Schleifscheibenfabrik GmbH. In 1975 he launched cutting wheels with phenolic resin on the market. In 1990 the company in difficulty was taken over by Mr. Werner Leroch, with a flash of genius he moved the production to elastic bond abrasives, which are still produced exclusively in the company today.

With this step, the company is given the current name ELKA Schleif-und Poliermittel GmbH. In 1991 ELKA moved to its current production site in Wiedergeltingen. Boasting a floor plan of approximately 5,000,000 square meters of manufacturing space, the abrasives for grinding and polishing are produced using modern manufacturing processes for various industries.

The ELKA company is certified according to the ISO-9001-2008 standard. In 2006 it became an accredited apprentice training company. Today ELKA has a modern production facility with qualified employees. The company covers a large and diversified market and carries out global sales and service activities. But his relationship with Northern Italy is interesting, an exchange of knowledge to improve production processes. Today the company is led by the engineer Jörg Schmidt and Mr. Werner Leroch.
