In 2013 the Concertgebouw will celebrate its 125th birthday. This milestone will be celebrated with a large number of jubilee activities. A year of festive events will feature 2 x 12 Jubilee Concerts in the Main Hall and the Recital Hall, exhibitions with sound and images, musical meet and greets, sing-along concerts and live concert recordings.

Together with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, for which 2013 is also a jubilee year, the Concertgebouw is organising the Star Jubilee on 10 April 2013. In addition, two commissioned works by Magnus Lindberg and Louis Andriessen will make their international debut in 2013, and the concert hall and the orchestra will present the jubilee book Bravo!  125 years of concert hall and orchestra.

Jubilee Concerts

The Concertgebouw has served as the venue for tens of thousands of concerts since it was founded in 1888. Throughout the years, countless musicians and international stars have performed in the Main Hall and the Recital Hall, which are both renowned for their exceptional acoustics. In 2013, each of these halls will present a Jubilee Concert on a monthly basis. Each month of the year will focus on a decade and an associated theme from the rich history of the Concertgebouw.

International stars such as Valery Gergiev, Angela Gheorghiu, Bernard Haitink, Leonidas Kavakos, Menahem Pressler, Eva-Maria Westbroek and many other musicians will participate in the 2013 Jubilee Programme of the Concertgebouw.

Star Jubilee

On 10 April 2013, the eve of the hall's 'official' birthday, the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will jointly organise the Star Jubilee. Soloists Janine Jansen, Thomas Hampson and Lang Lang will join the orchestra and chief conductor Mariss Jansons for a festive programme that will feature numerous musical highlights.
