Sydney, (informazione.it - comunicati stampa - arte e cultura) Monumental sculpture Flower Power, by Italian artist Silvia Tuccimei, was selected in 2016 for the international exhibition Sculpture by the Sea, which is held every year in October-November in Sydney and whose last edition saw the participation of over 100 artists selected among a total of over 500 entries.

Silvia Tuccimei’s work is composed of 3 modules approx. 3 m wide made of mirrored stainless steel, for 800 kg in weight. Its production has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Italian entrepreneur Fabio Bini, artistic director and CEO of OMCF, Florence, a company leader at international level in the manufacture of steel products. Over 20 people have worked at the creation of the sculpture.

Flower Power will be now permanently exhibited at the residence of the Italian Ambassador in Canberra.

silvia tuccimeiSilvia Tuccimei was born in Rome in 1960. In 1983 she obtained a diploma at the CSIA (Centro Scolastico per le Industrie Artistiche) in Lugano, Switzerland and subsequently moved to Paris, where she attended for 10 years the Angel-Perez sculpture studio. Here she pursued her obsession with the human form and geometric shapes. In Paris, her new environment caused Silvia to re-define her use of line, form and colour in a way that peels away the layers of the “seen world” in order to expose the under-lying fragility of life. For over 25 years Silvia has explored this theme through painting and sculpture and established an international reputation that has her work in constant demand.

In 2013 Silvia’s work Passage Secret was exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, and in March 2015 the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney hosted her solo exhibition titled Out of the Box.
