Iran's new president Masoud Pezeshkian extends olive branch to the world

The newly elected president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has made a significant announcement. In an article titled "My message to the new world", published in the reformist newspaper Etemad and the English-language Tehran Times, he declared Iran's readiness for dialogue and reconciliation.

Pezeshkian, a former health minister, is seen as a moderate figure in the Islamic Republic. His election has been eagerly awaited by Western governments, who hope that his reformist stance will justify the resumption of nuclear negotiations and the creation of strategic partnerships with Tehran.

However, it should be noted that the outcome of the Iranian elections is predetermined, as the ayatollahs only allow candidates who support them to participate. This has led to criticism that the elections do not reflect the will of the people and that Iran is not a democracy.

Pezeshkian has outlined his foreign policy intentions. He plans to strengthen strategic partnerships with Russia and China, increase bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and engage in constructive dialogue with Europe, without succumbing to US pressure. These plans do not deviate significantly from those of his predecessor, Ebrahim Raisi.

In a clear statement, Pezeshkian expressed his willingness to cooperate with Western countries to end the Gaza crisis and work towards peace between Russia and Ukraine. This marks a significant shift in Iran's stance and opens up new possibilities for international diplomacy.
